Thursday, September 14, 2017, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM received the visit of Dean of College of Medicine China Medical University (CMU) Liang-Yo Yang, DVM, PhD. The meeting was attended by Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Agung Endro Nugroho, M.Si., Apt. and some lecturers such as Prof. Dr. Zullies Ikawati, M.Sc., Apt.; Dr.rer.nat. Adam Hermawan, M.Sc., Apt.; Dr.rer.nat. Ronny Martien, M.Si.; and Miftahus Sa’adah, M.Sc., Apt. The visit of Dean of CMU to Faculty of Pharmacy UGM was to strengthen the collaboration with UGM which she admitted to be one of the greatest universities in Indonesia. CMU of which campus based in Taiwan also has had collaborations with other universities i.e. University of San Diego and Mahidol University; it just signed an agreement with University of Cincinnati USA as well.
In this occasion, Dean of CMU offers some forms of collaboration with Pharmacy UGM. The first is a joint research focused on cancer treatment, Indonesian traditional medicine, and nano-technology. The second is collaboration in academic field through doctoral scholarship provision, and student mobility. For the doctoral scholarship, CMU will waive the tuition fee and provide allowance 970 USD each month for the doctor candidates who are doing research there. Moreover, the laboratory research expenses will be covered by CMU. The student mobility offered is a programme similar to Summer Course held by Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. And the third is a joint supervision for thesis and dissertation of students of Pharmacy UGM and CMU.
In addition to that, CMU also has reputable international journal (indexed by Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science) and invites the UGM lecturers to submit their manuscripts to that journal. “Further, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM will send one or two research manuscripts to be published in that journal,” said Dean of Pharmacy UGM. The effective meeting was closed by group photo, and Dean of Pharmacy UGM will repay the visit to Taiwan the following year.
