Bantul, September 15, 2025 – Students of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy’s Professional Pharmacist Study Program Class of August 2025 held a community service activity focused on health education for elderly people. Held at Al Ikhlas Mosque, Jaranan, Banguntapan, Bantul, the event took place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in collaboration with the local Health Education Council.
The activity, supervised by Dr. Djoko Santosa, M.Si., included a series of health services, such as free blood sugar and blood pressure checks. Additionally, the students provided in-depth educational materials on hypertension and diabetes mellitus. To enhance understanding, informative brochures and leaflets were distributed, serving as practical guides for the elderly in managing their daily health.
This activity involved four students from the Pharmacy Professional Program, Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM, demonstrating their commitment to applying the knowledge they gained in college to make a real contribution to society.
This community service activity has strong relevance to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, it is in line with SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being, as it seeks to increase awareness and access to preventive health services, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly. Second, this activity supports SDG 4, Quality Education, through the delivery of accessible and relevant health information and education. Finally, this initiative reflects SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, by demonstrating effective collaboration between educational institutions (UGM) and local communities in achieving a common goal, namely improving the health and welfare of the community.
