Yogyakarta, September 16, 2025 – A student from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) won two medals at the 2025 DIY XVII Regional Sports Week (PORDA) held in Gunungkidul Regency. This regional sports event was organized by the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Gunungkidul Regency Government as the host. The competition lasted for ten days, from September 9-18, 2025, with the opening ceremony at the Gelora Handayani Stadium in Gunungkidul and the closing ceremony at the Wonosari Square, Gunungkidul.
PORDA DIY is an important event for young athletes to channel their potential and hone their competitive skills. In addition, this event also strengthens the spirit of togetherness and sportsmanship among regencies in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Various sports were competed with great enthusiasm from the athletes and support from the community, which shows the public’s great interest in the development of sports at the regional level.
In this year’s event, one of the proud achievements came from Talitha Nabila Hasana, a 2024 student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), as a representative of the Sleman Regency contingent through the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI) Sleman. Talitha won two silver medals, one in the women’s shot put and one in the women’s discus throw. This achievement is clear evidence of the synergy between academic ability and dedication to sports. This success serves as motivation to dare to compete and excel in various fields, both academic and non-academic.
This success is also in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goal 3 on Good Health and Well-being and goal 4 on Quality Education. Through sports, students not only maintain their physical and mental health, but also develop discipline, responsibility, and a spirit of cooperation. On the other hand, academic achievements that are in line with sporting achievements demonstrate the integration of quality education that encourages the creation of superior human resources. In addition, this regional sporting event also supports goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals, as the implementation of the event is the result of close collaboration between the government, educational institutions, sports organizations, and the community.
Talitha Nabila Hasana’s achievement is not only a personal victory but also a tangible contribution to sustainable development. This success serves as an inspiration for students and the younger generation to continue developing themselves, competing healthily, and taking an active role in advancing education, health, and sportsmanship at both the regional and national levels.
