Yogyakarta, 13 August 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held an orientation program for new postgraduate students at the Auditorium on the 8th Floor of the Advanced Pharmaceutical Sciences Learning Center (APSLC), Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The program served as an introduction and academic briefing to help new students begin their postgraduate journey within the Faculty.
The event began with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. In his remarks, Satibi encouraged students to maintain their enthusiasm and consistency throughout their studies so they could complete their programs on time. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining regular communication with their supervisors, particularly throughout the proposal development and research process.
“Keep communicating your research proposal with your professor or supervisor so that the research process can progress well,” he encouraged the students.
The orientation continued with a mental health seminar featuring Diana Setiyawati, S.Psi., MHSc., Ph.D., a psychologist and academic from the Faculty of Psychology, UGM. The session provided students with insights into the importance of maintaining mental health and personal well-being while navigating the academic and research demands of postgraduate education.
The program then continued with an introduction to the faculty and study programs, delivered by Prof. Dr. apt. Nanang Munif Yasin, M.Pharm., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. Through this session, students were introduced to the academic environment, learning system, and various student-related aspects that support their postgraduate studies.
Students also received an introduction to UGM values and academic ethics from Prof. Dr. apt. Akhmad Kharis Nugroho, M.Si. The session highlighted the importance of academic integrity, responsibility, and ethical conduct in carrying out academic and research activities.
The orientation also featured a presentation on the Health Professions Education (HPU) delivered by Dr. Sylvia Utami Tunjung Pratiwi, S.Si., M.Si. The session provided students with an overview of health professions education and its role in supporting the development of competent, professional, and responsible health professionals.
The orientation also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being, through the mental health session; SDG 4, Quality Education, through academic preparation and orientation to postgraduate education; and SDG 16, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, through the promotion of academic ethics, integrity, and responsible educational practices.
Through this orientation, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM hopes that new postgraduate students will be well prepared academically and mentally, understand the academic environment and values of the University, and remain committed to completing their studies successfully and on time.
