Yogyakarta, 26 September 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held an Open Senate Meeting to commemorate its 79th Anniversary at the 8th Floor Auditorium of the APSLC Building. The event was attended by the Rector, Deans and Vice Deans of UGM, members of the senate, industry partners, alumni, faculty members, administrative staff, and students. This occasion served as both a reflection on the Faculty’s academic journey and a reaffirmation of its commitment to delivering innovations that benefit society.
Carrying the theme “Pharmaceutical Transformation: Innovation, Collaboration, and Sustainability”, this year’s Anniversary emphasized the strategic role of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM in advancing research, technology, and cross-sector collaboration. The program began with an opening address by the Chair of the Faculty Senate, Prof. Dr. apt. Zullies Ikawati, followed by the Dean’s report delivered by Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Sc., and a scientific oration titled “Standardization and Pharmaceutical Transformation” presented by the Head of the National Standardization Agency (BSN) 2020-2025 period, Drs. apt. Kukuh Syaefudin Achmad, M.Sc.
The 79th Anniversary also demonstrates the Faculty’s contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, through pharmaceutical research and innovation, the Faculty supports SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, by developing breakthroughs in medicine, supplements, and health technologies relevant to community needs. Second, the spirit of collaboration among academia, industry, and government reflects support for SDG 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, highlighting the importance of applied research and multidisciplinary cooperation to produce tangible solutions. Third, the theme of sustainability aligns with SDG 12, Responsible Consumption and Production, particularly in promoting eco-friendly pharmaceutical practices, sustainable sourcing of raw materials, and public education on the proper use of medicines.
