Pharmacy UGM – Pharmacy students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have once again achieved international recognition by successfully participating in the International Youth Innovation Summit (IYIS) #7 held from January 20-23, 2025 in Malaysia and Singapore. IYIS #7 is a volunteer event and competition organized by Global Youthpreneur Nusantara, focusing on the actions of the youth generation through various programs, one of which addresses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at developing potential and innovative creativity among the youths.
As one of the representatives from the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Maula Belva Islamay Putri, a student from the class of 2024, expressed her pride in the achievement. “This experience is very meaningful and will serve as a foundation for my personal development, which will eventually benefit myself, the university, and Indonesia,” she said.
At the event, Belva, who was also part of a team with students from various universities, won awards in two categories: 1st place for Best Project Innovation and 2nd place for Best Presentation. Together with her team, Belva presented an innovative health-related project called “Nutrisphere.” This project is an interactive website offering information through an e-tabloid. The innovation addresses the issue of the triple burden of malnutrition, which is a significant global concern. Through this innovation, Belva and her team aim to contribute to achieving the SDGs, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
The achievements of Pharmacy UGM students in IYIS #7 also reflect a significant contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The “Nutrisphere” project, which leverages technology to address the triple burden of malnutrition, supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by providing easier and more adequate access to health information, which can help reduce malnutrition rates. This innovation also aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) as it offers the opportunity for the public to access better health education through the interactive e-tabloid platform. Furthermore, this achievement demonstrates the contribution of the younger generation in creating innovative solutions that support SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by developing technology-based products with significant potential to build more inclusive and sustainable social infrastructure.
The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM continues to support the development of student potential in various international competitions and scientific activities. This achievement is evidence of the Faculty’s commitment to producing graduates who excel not only academically but also possess innovative skills that positively impact society. (Rara/HumasFA)
