Yogyakarta, September 23, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), expanded its international partnership network through an official visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy, University College MAIWP International (UCMI) Malaysia. The UGM delegation was led by the Dean, accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni.
The visit was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and UCMI Faculty of Pharmacy, Malaysia. This MoU lays the foundation for strategic collaboration, particularly in the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program for UCMI students to continue their studies at UGM Faculty of Pharmacy.
The Dean of UGM Faculty of Pharmacy emphasized that this collaboration is an important step in advancing the internationalization of higher education, while also providing greater opportunities for international students to access high-quality education in Indonesia. “We believe this partnership will open opportunities for academic development, research, and mutually beneficial collaboration between the two institutions,” he stated.
In addition to the MoU signing, the meeting also included discussions on potential areas of collaboration such as joint research, academic staff exchanges, and student capacity-building in the field of pharmacy. This initiative is expected to further strengthen the international reputation of UGM Faculty of Pharmacy while contributing significantly to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences.
This collaboration is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) through enhanced access to and quality of higher education, Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through cross-country collaboration, and Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) by advancing research and education in health and pharmaceutical sciences.
