Yogyakarta, October 11, 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, proudly announces the remarkable achievement of apt. Eka Noviana, Ph.D., an accomplished young lecturer and researcher who has been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025, released by Stanford University.
This recognition stands as concrete evidence of Dr. Eka’s dedication to research and education, while also highlighting the vital role of Indonesian women in producing innovations that positively impact society. Having dreamed of becoming a teacher since childhood, Dr. Eka has now fulfilled that dream by inspiring students and young researchers through her scientific contributions.
One of her notable works includes developing detection methods for hazardous substances in food, such as borax in meatballs and tofu, contributing to efforts to enhance food safety in Indonesia. Her innovation aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through improved food safety, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of applied analytical technologies, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting safe and sustainable food production practices.
As a form of appreciation for her dedication and impactful contributions, ParagonCorp has provided research and learning support to Dr. Eka Noviana in the form of modern laboratory equipment to further advance her work in analytical pharmacy research.
Dr. Eka Noviana earned her Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and Pharmacist Professional Program from the Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada (2008–2013), her Master’s in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Arizona (2013–2015), and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Colorado State University, USA (2015–2020), with a dissertation titled Development of Paper-Based Devices for Point-of-Need, Bioanalytical Applications.
With this achievement and continued support, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM hopes that Dr. Eka’s success will inspire the academic community to keep innovating and contributing to the advancement of science and the betterment of society.
