Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has marked a new milestone with the establishment of the Gadjah Mada Pharmacy Consumer Cooperative (KORFAGAMA) on April 22, 2025. The formation of this cooperative is aimed at enhancing the welfare and active participation of the academic community through a community-based collective economy.
A total of 14 founding members have agreed to establish the cooperative and formed its inaugural management and supervisory boards for the 2025–2030 period. Prof. Dr. Drs. apt. Abdul Karim Zulkarnain, M.Si. was appointed as Chairperson, accompanied by Andrian Dion Priadi, S.Kom. as Secretary, and Prof. Dr. apt. Susi Ari Kristina, M.Kes. as Treasurer. The supervisory board consists of apt. Rumiyati, M.Si., Ph.D., Dr. apt. Dwi Endarti, S.F., M.Sc. and Gatot Sadewo, S.T., M.Sc.
With the vision of becoming an excellent, independent, and sustainable consumer cooperative, KORFAGAMA will begin its operations in the retail sector, offering food, beverages, stationery, as well as support services such as photocopying and event catering. Looking ahead, the cooperative plans to expand its digital services and establish strategic partnerships with local UMKM and campus business units.
“This is a collective step toward building independence and improving well-being in a tangible way. This cooperative belongs to all of us,” stated Prof. Abdul Karim, Chairperson of Koperasi Konsumen Farmasi Gadjah Mada.
KORFAGAMA is committed to transparent and community-based governance. Its 2025–2027 mid-term work plan emphasizes strengthening internal capital, member training, and service digitalization. The establishment of the cooperative represents a concrete contribution from the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
