The Faculty Senate (SF) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is authorized to implement MWA (Board of Trustees) policies within the Faculty, as per MWA Regulation No. 4/SK/MWA/2014 concerning the Organization and Governance of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Chapter I General Provisions Article 1 section 11.

1. Dean and Vice Deans
2. Active Professors
3. Head of Departments
4. Non-Professor Faculty Representatives
5. Administrative Staff Representatives
6. Other members as specified by the Rector’s Regulations

1. Develops academic and non-academic plans and policies for the Faculty.
2. Assesses academic achievements, ethics, and integrity of Faculty lecturers.
3. Sets standards and evaluates the performance of Faculty leadership.
4. Provides guidance for efficient Faculty management.
5. Reviews and advises on the proposed Faculty work plan and annual budget.
6. Approves proposed curriculum changes and evaluates Faculty operations.
7. Conducts the selection process for Dean candidates and recommends them to the Rector.
8. Provides input on the Vice Dean candidates proposed by the Dean.
9. Approves professor appointments and lecturer promotions.
10. Carries out other duties as per Board of Trustees Regulation and Rector's Regulations.

To perform its duties, the Faculty Senate forms commissions exempting the Dean and Vice Dean. These commissions are as follows:

• Commission  I: Academic Affairs
• Commission II: Research, Human Resources, and Collaboration

The Faculty Senate consists of 19 members. The Faculty Senate holds Plenary Meeting once a month, and holds a Working Meeting once a year at the end of the academic year; a special Plenary Meeting may be called upon special circumstances.
