Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada is organizing an online summer course starting from 5th of July to 16th of July. This event is organized in collaboration with Universitas Udayana (Bali, Indonesia), Taipei Medical University (Taiwan), and Chiang Mai University (Thailand). This morning, this first online summer course was launched by the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. apt. Agung Endro Nugroho, PhD., and the Chiefof the Bachelor Degree Study Program, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, apt. Dewa Ayu Swastini, S.F, M.Farm.
The online summer course 2021 is an online interdisciplinary and interuniversity collaborative activity which is designed to match the emerging needs of 21 century competencies. In the online summer course, traditional herbal medicine is linked to the current advances in information, media, and technology field. The topics cover advances farming of the herbs to the regulation and post-marketing of the traditional herbal medicines. The course will be delivered with various approaches to keep the activities fun and engaging, and most importantly, enrich the students’ learning and innovation skills, such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. The students will be immersed in cross-cultural and multi-discipline environment that surely enhanced the students’ experience to be ready to face the globalization era.
There are more than three hundred participants in this online course. Not only Indonesian, but the participants also comes from VietNam, Taiwan, Japan, Iraq, Nepal, Cambodia, etc. For Indonesian participants, they are students from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Udayana, Universitas Mataram, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Pertahanan Indonesia, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Hasanuddin, and many more.
This course is designed as a two-week activity with approximately 90 hours of learning activity, divided into 30 hours of synchronous activity and 60 hours of asynchronous activity supported by a Moodle based Learning Management System developed by Universitas Gadjah Mada, called eLOK, and also other external applications and sources. Course credit offered is equivalent to 2 CSU or 3.4 ECTS.
