Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada Hosts Parents’ Meeting for the Class of 2025

Yogyakarta, August 8, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) hosted a meeting for the parents of new students (known as ‘Gamada’) for the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The event, held in a hybrid format (online and offline) at the 8th Floor Auditorium of the APSLC Building and Zoom, was attended by 124 parents. The meeting, which began at 12:30 PM, was designed as a forum for introductions and information sharing between the faculty leadership and the parents. The event was opened with a warm welcome by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. accompanied by the dean’s office, lecturers, and other members of the academic community.

In his remarks, Prof. Satibi congratulated the parents whose children have successfully become part of the Faculty of Pharmacy family. He highlighted the highly competitive admission process, noting that only 4.5% of the 5,582 applicants were accepted. “This event serves as a forum for sharing. It is a great honor for us to be entrusted with the education of your children at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada,” said Prof. Satibi. He also emphasized the importance of synergy for the students’ success. “To ensure our children’s success, a solid collaboration between the academic community and the parents is essential,” he added.

Following the opening remarks, the event proceeded with a prayer led by Prof. Dr. apt. Akhmad Kharis Nugroho, M.Si. The main agenda continued with a presentation on the faculty’s profile and academic programs, delivered by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. apt. Nanang Munif Yasin, M.Pharm.

Subsequently, the Head of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Study Program gave a brief presentation on the bachelor’s degree, followed by an academic overview of the Pharmacist Professional Program by its Head. The agenda continued with a presentation on student activities by the President of the Faculty’s Student Executive Board (BEM). The event concluded with a symbolic handover and introduction of Portamasi (Pharmacy Student Parents Association) led by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Gatot Sadewo, S.T., M.Sc.

The event aims to enhance communication between the parents of students and the academic community. This collaboration supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17, which focuses on strengthening partnerships for sustainable development. By establishing strong channels of communication, the event contributes to improving the quality of education, in line with SDG 4, and helps the faculty guide students toward becoming innovative, professional, and outstanding individuals, in alignment with SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, which seeks to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
