Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada recently hosted an Academic Orientation for new postgraduate students for the 2024/2025 academic year. The event took place at the APSLC Building Auditorium, 8th Floor, and the Lecture Room of Unit IX Faculty of Pharmacy.
The orientation is an annual event designed to familiarize new students with the academic environment and promote interaction between them and the academic community of the Faculty of Pharmacy, such as lecturers and education staff. A total of 32 students participated, representing three programs, the Master Program in Clinical Pharmacy (10 students), the Master Program in Pharmaceutical Science (19 students, including one international student), and the Master Program in Pharmacy Management (3 students).
The event began with opening remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Apt. Satibi, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of collaboration, integrity, and perseverance in postgraduate studies. He expressed his hope that the orientation would serve as a strong foundation for students to build relationships and become more familiar with the faculty environment.
Following the opening, Dr. Nanang Munif Yasin, M.Pharm., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, provided an introduction to the faculty and the various study programs offered. The next session featured Prof. Dr. Akhmad Kharis Nugroho, M.Si., who spoke about UGM’s values and the academic ethics that underpin campus life.
The event concluded with an inspiring session by Diana Setiyawati, M.HSc.Psy., Ph.D., titled “Becoming a Successful Learner: Mental Resilience in Master’s/Doctoral Studies.” Her presentation offered psychological and motivational support to help new students tackle the challenges of postgraduate education.
This orientation reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy’s ongoing commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, Quality Education, by encouraging an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Additionally, the collaborative spirit promoted at the start of the program aligns with Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals, which encourages synergy among stakeholders in higher education.
Through this orientation, the faculty hopes that new students will quickly adapt to academic life and develop a positive learning mindset, ultimately contributing meaningfully to the pharmaceutical field. (Rizqi Vazrin/HumasFA)
