Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada Expands International Network with Japan Courtesy Visit

Yogyakarta, August 4, 2025 – To strengthen its academic reputation on the global stage, the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Faculty of Pharmacy has completed a cooperation visit to Japan. The delegation, led by Dean Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. and Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt.  Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si., visited several leading educational and research institutions.

The UGM delegation visited Osaka University, Toyama University, and the Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute. The purpose of the trip was to establish communication, strengthen relationships, and explore potential collaboration in various fields, including joint/double degree programs, staff and student exchanges, and joint research. The visit also provided an opportunity to follow the latest developments in the field of higher pharmacy school by participating in the AASP Conference.

“This visit is a strategic step to open up broader collaboration opportunities with international partners. We hope the cooperation will improve the quality of education and research at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and provide real benefits for the entire academic community,” said Professor Satibi.

This cooperative visit not only focused on academic development but also directly supported the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through research collaboration with institutions like the Chiba Cancer Center, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy contributes to SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, by accelerating discoveries in health and medicine. The exploration of exchange programs and joint degree programs aligns with SDG 4, Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and high-quality education. The mission also addresses SDG 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by encouraging innovation through research collaboration and technology development. Finally, by strengthening partnerships among global institutions, this activity explicitly supports SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges.
