Pharmacy UGM, May 14, 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), received a benchmarking visit from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya (UKWMS) on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The agenda took place from 09:30 WIB until completion, held in the Leadership Meeting Room on the 7th Floor of the APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM.
This visit was part of the UKWMS Faculty of Pharmacy’s efforts to develop and enhance its curriculum to strengthen the quality of higher education in pharmacy. As a pioneer of the International Undergraduate Program in Pharmacy, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM was selected as the benchmarking partner due to its strong commitment to educational innovation and global academic excellence.
During the visit, Dr. apt. Nanang Munif Yasin, M.Pharm., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the faculty’s strategic direction. Followed by a presentation from apt. Anna Wahyuni Widayanti, M.P.H., Ph.D., Head of the Pharmacist Professional Study Program (PSPA), presented the curriculum structure and learning strategies implemented in the program.
The benchmarking activity aimed to identify areas for improvement at the Faculty of Pharmacy UKWMS and to explore best practices already adopted by the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. Dr. apt. Martha Ervina, S.Si., M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UKWMS, expressed her hope that the visit would serve as a valuable learning opportunity, particularly in designing a more responsive and relevant pharmacist education. “We hope to bring home new insights to support the development of an excellent and competitive pharmacist curriculum,” she said.
This initiative not only contributes to enhancing the quality of higher education but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The benchmarking supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through institutional collaboration, both faculties reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the role of higher pharmacy education in building a healthier and more sustainable future.
