Yogyakarta, July 29, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received a benchmarking visit from the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Farmasi (STIFAR) Yayasan Pharmasi Semarang on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The visit, centered at the Advanced Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS) Laboratory, aimed to study best practices in managing an integrated research laboratory as STIFAR prepares to develop a Master’s in Pharmacy program and establish an international-standard integrated laboratory.
The STIFAR delegation was officially welcomed by Prof. Dr.rer.nat. apt. Endang Lukitaningsih, M.Si., as the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy. In her welcoming remarks, Prof. Endang welcomed the initiative for collaboration and knowledge sharing between pharmacy educational institutions for mutual advancement.
The Head of STIFAR, Dr. apt. Sri Haryanti, M.Si., explained the main objective of the visit. “We are in the process of developing a Master’s program and plan to build an integrated laboratory. We want to learn from UGM, not only regarding research facilities but also about the processes and requirements for obtaining ISO 17025 certification,” stated Dr. Sri Haryanti.
The event continued with an in-depth presentation on the APS Laboratory delivered by Prof. Dr. apt. Arief Nurrochmad, M.Si., M.Sc., as the Head of the Laboratory. Prof. Arief shared insights into the management, infrastructure, research focus, and the journey of the APS Laboratory in becoming a leading pharmaceutical research center.
Following a discussion session in the meeting room on the 7th floor of the APLSC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy, the event concluded with a laboratory tour. The STIFAR delegation had the opportunity to directly observe the facilities, instrumentation, and workflow at the APS Laboratory.
This collaboration between educational institutions aligns with the efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This visit directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing the capacity and quality of higher education in the pharmacy sector. Additionally, by focusing on the development of drug research facilities, this initiative contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). Furthermore, the development of an innovative, international-standard integrated laboratory embodies SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), which promotes scientific innovation and the development of resilient infrastructure to support national health self-sufficiency.
