Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Strengthens Partnership with Parents of New Students through the 2026 Parent Gathering

Yogyakarta, August 3, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held the Parent Gathering for New Undergraduate Students of the Odd Semester, Academic Year 2026/2027 on Monday (August 3) at the 8th Floor Auditorium of the APSLC Building. The event served as an important opportunity to establish strong communication and collaboration between the faculty and parents or guardians in supporting students’ academic success and personal development throughout their studies.

The gathering was attended by the Faculty’s leadership, department heads, study program coordinators, academic staff, administrative personnel, representatives of the Student Executive Board (BEM), the Parents Association of Faculty of Pharmacy Students (PORTAMASI), and parents and guardians who participated both onsite and online.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Satibi, M.Si., Apt., Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, emphasized that student success is built upon a shared commitment between the university and families. He highlighted the importance of fostering a collaborative relationship with parents, whose support plays a vital role in students’ academic achievements, personal growth, and overall well-being.

The program continued with a presentation by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, who introduced the Faculty’s profile, educational vision, academic environment, and student support services. This was followed by presentations from the Head of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Study Program and the Head of the Pharmacist Professional Study Program, providing parents with an overview of the curriculum, academic regulations, learning process, and educational pathways available at the Faculty.

To familiarize parents with student life beyond the classroom, the Chair of the Student Executive Board presented various student organizations, leadership opportunities, extracurricular activities, and initiatives designed to foster students’ personal and professional development. Parents were also introduced to the Parents Association of Faculty of Pharmacy Students (PORTAMASI), which serves as a communication platform connecting parents and the Faculty in supporting students throughout their academic journey.

An interactive discussion session concluded the event, allowing parents and guardians to ask questions and exchange ideas regarding academic policies, student services, and mechanisms for supporting students during their university life. The dialogue reflected the Faculty’s commitment to maintaining open communication and fostering a collaborative educational environment.

Through this Parent Gathering, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM reaffirmed its commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive academic ecosystem where the Faculty and families work together to nurture competent, ethical, and socially responsible future pharmacists. By strengthening this partnership from the beginning of students’ university experience, the Faculty aims to provide a solid foundation for academic excellence and holistic student development.

This initiative also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and families, and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by fostering an educational environment that supports students’ overall well-being and development.
