Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Strengthens International Research Collaboration Through JSPS Funding Socialization

Yogyakarta, 6 February 2026 — In an effort to enhance researchers’ access to global networks, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), hosted an event titled “JSPS Meeting: Information Dissemination and Research Funding Opportunities” on Friday, February 6, 2026. Held at the Leadership Meeting Room (RSP), 7th Floor of the APSLC Building, the meeting featured representatives from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) as a strategic partner for international research.

The activity aimed to provide comprehensive information regarding various research funding schemes, researcher exchange programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities offered by the Japanese government through JSPS. Through this collaboration, researchers are expected to gain broader access to global research resources and improve the quality and impact of their research for the wider community.

The meeting commenced with remarks from the faculty leadership, followed by a presentation on JSPS International Programs by the JSPS team, consisting of Otani Yoshio, Yabuta Kazumi, and Dai Liping. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Puspita Lisdiyanti from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) provided insights into the JAAI (JSPS Alumni Association in Indonesia) program. An interactive discussion session was also held to provide technical clarification to potential research applicants regarding funding mechanisms.

Participants included not only internal members of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM but also strategic representatives from various partners, including UGM’s Faculties of Biology, Engineering, and Dentistry, as well as external institutions such as UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), and Research Centers from BRIN. Through this cross-institutional synergy, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM remains committed to driving research downstreaming and strengthening national research capacity through sustainable international partnerships. This event also reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s concrete commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing researchers’ intellectual capacity, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by fostering research-based innovation, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by building strategic collaborations with international institutions to address global health challenges.
