Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Strengthens Global Research Collaboration in DISSO ASIA 2025 International Symposium

Jakarta, July 29, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again affirmed its position as a leading institution in pharmaceutical innovation by co-hosting the prestigious international symposium, DISSO ASIA 2025. The event, themed “Dissolution Science & Quality Drug Development,” was organized by the Society of Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS) India in collaboration with the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) RI, from Tuesday to Wednesday, July 29-30, 2025, at the BPOM RI Headquarters in Jakarta.

The symposium provided a strategic platform for academics, researchers, regulators, and industry practitioners from various countries to share the latest knowledge on dissolution in pharmaceutical preparations, which is crucial for drug development and quality assurance. The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s involvement extended beyond co-organization, with active contributions from its lecturers. Prof. Dr. apt. Akhmad Kharis Nugroho, M.Si., a professor from the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, was invited as a speaker to present his research findings and insights. Additionally, Dr.Eng. apt. Khadijah, M.Si. and Dr. apt. Sekar Ayu Pawestri, S.Farm. played vital roles as members of the scientific committee, ensuring the quality and relevance of the material presented during the symposium.

This collaboration in DISSO ASIA 2025 aligns with the commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Active participation directly supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting the development of higher-quality, safer, and more effective drugs for the community. Through the dissolution research discussed, the symposium also contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by strengthening the scientific foundation for the national pharmaceutical industry. The involvement of UGM experts as speakers and scientific committee members reflects SDG 4 (Quality Education), where higher education institutions play a role in disseminating cutting-edge knowledge. Furthermore, the event’s organization, involving cross-sector collaboration—academics (UGM, ITB), government (BPOM RI), and international organizations (SPDS India)—serves as a concrete example of the implementation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s participation in this international event demonstrates its ongoing commitment to contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical science at a global level and supporting the government’s efforts to ensure the availability of quality drug products in Indonesia.
