Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Officially Launches Integrity Zone (ZI) Toward Corruption-Free Area (WBK) and Clean and Serving Bureaucracy Area (WBBM)

Yogyakarta, 26 February 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada has officially declared the development of an Integrity Zone (Zona Integritas/ZI) toward a Corruption-Free Area (Wilayah Bebas dari Korupsi/WBK) and a Clean and Serving Bureaucracy Area (Wilayah Birokrasi Bersih dan Melayani/WBBM). The event, held on Thursday (26/2) from 09:00–10:00 WIB at the 8th Floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, marked a significant milestone in strengthening the faculty’s commitment to clean, transparent, and accountable governance.

The declaration of the Integrity Zone represents a strategic step and a formal commitment by the leadership and the entire academic community to enhance the quality of public services, reinforce performance accountability, and cultivate a culture of integrity. This initiative aligns with the Bureaucratic Reform policy within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, as well as the Integrity Zone development program in higher education institutions.

UGM Rector, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K), Ph.D., expressed her appreciation for the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment and courage in launching the Integrity Zone. She emphasized that this initiative is in line with UGM’s 2017–2037 Master Plan, which underscores the importance of creating an organizational governance system that is flexible, dynamic, adaptive, agile, accountable, and transparent in order to achieve good university governance.

According to her, public trust is an essential initial capital for any institution. However, trust alone is not sufficient. Tactical and strategic measures are required to respond to increasingly complex future challenges that differ significantly from those faced two to three decades ago. She expressed hope that this declaration would not merely become a slogan, but rather a genuine commitment reflected in daily practices, upheld by the spirit of “no bribery, no illegal levies, no gratuities.”

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Satibi, affirmed that the development of the Integrity Zone is a collective effort to strengthen democratic governance and foster continuous improvement. Various innovations will continue to be encouraged to ensure that institutional processes are conducted transparently, accurately, independently, and accountably.

He further highlighted the faculty’s commitment to delivering high-quality academic services and research support, while empowering students and stakeholders. This initiative, he noted, serves as an important foundation for building trust, including among strategic partners collaborating with the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.

The launch of the Integrity Zone also reflects the Faculty’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through strengthened transparent and accountable governance; SDG 4 (Quality Education) through improved educational services and research integrity; and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by fostering adaptive and sustainable institutional innovation to address future challenges in higher education.
