Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Hosts Guest Lecture on “Implementation Research” with Professor from The University of Sydney

Yogyakarta, November 3, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) reaffirmed its commitment to global academic excellence by organizing a Guest Lecture on “Implementation Research.” The event, held at the Workshop Room, Unit 9 Building, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, featured a renowned international expert to discuss implementation research in healthcare practice.

The guest lecture presented Prof. Bandana Saini, a Professor of Pharmacy Practice and the Director of Academic Career Development at the Pharmacy School, The University of Sydney, Australia, as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by lecturer from the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, apt. Anna Wahyuni Widayanti, M.P.H., Ph.D.

The topic of “Implementation Research” was highlighted for its vital role in bridging the gap between research findings (scientific evidence) and real-world practice. In the context of pharmacy, this research focuses on the best methods to ensure that new innovations, medicines, and clinical services are effectively and sustainably applied within the healthcare system to provide maximum benefit to patients.

This guest lecture aligns with UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By focusing on implementation research, the lecture directly supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by seeking to improve the effectiveness of healthcare services. Furthermore, this activity embodies SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the transfer of advanced knowledge from a global expert, while also strengthening SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering international academic collaboration between Indonesia and Australia to enhance health research capacity.

The event was attended by enthusiastic students, lecturers, and researchers eager to gain new insights. The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM hopes this activity will spur more impactful implementation research in Indonesia, ultimately improving the quality of healthcare services in the country.
