Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Holds Training on the Utilization of E-Resources: Scopus and ScienceDirect

Yogyakarta, October 30, 2025 – In an effort to enhance information literacy skills and support the quality of academic research, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Faculty Library, organized a Training on the Utilization of E-Resources: Scopus and ScienceDirect. The event was held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Postgraduate Building Unit IX, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.

This training aimed to strengthen the competencies of lecturers, students, and educational staff in effectively utilizing electronic information sources, or e-resources. In the digital era, the ability to search, access, and manage credible scientific literature has become a key factor in producing high-quality academic works. Through this activity, participants were expected to gain a deeper understanding of the functions and features of two major platforms, namely Scopus and ScienceDirect.

The training featured Muh Aly Mubarok, S.IP, Librarian of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, who led both the introductory session and hands-on practice on e-resource utilization. Participants received explanations on Scopus database coverage, citation analysis techniques, article search strategies in ScienceDirect, and tips for preparing publication references. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to conduct independent literature searches under direct guidance from the speaker and organizing committee.

Through this training, the academic community is expected to optimize the use of digital facilities provided by the university. The utilization of e-resources not only broadens scientific insights but also contributes to increasing the number of publications and citations by the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM at both national and international levels. By improving the ability to search and manage academic literature, a stronger culture of information literacy is anticipated to grow within the academic environment.

The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM remains committed to strengthening research and publication capacity as part of its contribution to the advancement of science and public health.
