Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Holds Training and Hands-on Workshop on Infrared Spectroscopy and Chemometrics Analysis

Yogyakarta, October 14, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted a Training and Hands-on Workshop on Infrared Spectroscopy and Chemometrics Analysis on October 14–15, 2025. The program aims to introduce the principles and applications of infrared spectroscopy in pharmaceutical and chemical analysis research, provide practical training on instrument operation and basic data interpretation using chemometric methods, and familiarize participants with analytical chemistry laboratory equipment that supports research and innovation in related fields.

The workshop featured several experts, including apt. Eka Noviana, M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. apt. Abdul Rohman, SF., M.Si., Dr. rer. nat. apt. Siti Nurul Hidayah, M.Sc., Dr. rer. nat. Tatang Irianti, M.Sc.,  Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Endang Lukitaningsih, M.Si., Dr. apt. Agustina Ari Murti Budi Hastuti, M.Sc., and apt. Halida Rahmania, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. The sessions included both theoretical and practical components, held in the classroom and at the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry) of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The training was attended by 24 participants, consisting of researchers and students from Universitas Gadjah Mada and nearby institutions.

This activity also supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing academic capacity and research skills among students and researchers; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the application of modern analytical technology to foster innovation in pharmacy and chemistry; and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by advancing analytical methods that ensure the quality and safety of pharmaceuticals for public health.

Through this training, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM aims to strengthen research capabilities, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and foster an academic environment that drives sustainable innovation in the fields of pharmacy and analytical sciences.
