Yogyakarta, 5 March 2026 — To celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an Iftar (Breaking the Fast) and Ramadan 1447 H Study Session on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The event, held at the Asy-Syifa Mosque, served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties and enhance spirituality for the entire academic community within the faculty.
The event began with participant registration followed by a warm welcome from the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of togetherness in building and maintaining the campus mosque. The main agenda of the meeting was a sermon (tausiyah) delivered by Dr. dr. Sagiran, Sp.B (K) KL., M.Kes., FICS., focusing on the inspiring theme of fasting and holistic health, covering physical, mental, and spiritual aspects. Through this study, health sciences were presented as a path of worship aligned with the values of piety.
Following the study session, the event continued with a collective prayer and the breaking of the fast as the time for Maghrib prayer arrived. All attendees then performed the congregational Maghrib prayer led by Dr. dr. Sagiran before enjoying dinner together in a familial atmosphere in Pharmacy Hall and Community Centre (PHCC). The evening’s activities concluded with congregational Isha and Tarawih prayers led by Dr. Djoko Santosa, M.Si., as a manifestation of strengthened worship during the month of Ramadan.
This event also reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the dissemination of knowledge on holistic health, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting an inclusive society and harmonious relationships within the workplace through religious gathering forums.
