Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has officially enacted Dean’s Regulation No. 2 of 2025 on the Code of Conduct for the Faculty Community of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The regulation was issued by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., as a guideline to ensure security, comfort, and ethical behavior within the Faculty’s environment.
The regulation applies to all members of the academic community, education staff, and individuals engaged in activities at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. It aims to establish an educational environment that upholds integrity, cultural values, and the noble principles of Universitas Gadjah Mada. The code of conduct covers four key areas: orderliness in security and comfort, cleanliness and health, personal appearance, as well as communication and expression.
In terms of security and comfort, members of the Faculty of Pharmacy are required to comply with activity hours, which are set from 05:00 to 21:00 WIB. Any activities beyond these hours require written permission from the Dean. Furthermore, all members are obliged to use facilities responsibly and maintain a conducive learning atmosphere. The regulation also prohibits various harmful activities, including staying overnight on campus without permission, carrying sharp weapons or narcotics, gambling, consuming alcoholic products, and engaging in immoral acts.
With regard to cleanliness and health, the regulation requires all community members to maintain environmental hygiene, dispose of waste properly, reduce single-use plastics, and refrain from smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, within campus areas. In terms of personal appearance, every individual in the Faculty of Pharmacy must dress neatly and appropriately. Wearing t-shirts without collars, sleeveless tops, flip-flops, transparent clothing, or outfits that expose certain body parts deemed inappropriate for the academic environment is strictly prohibited.
Ethical communication and expression also form an essential part of this regulation. Members of the academic community are expected to safeguard the faculty’s reputation, use polite language, respect differences of opinion, and avoid hate speech, slander, and the dissemination of hoaxes or information related to SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations). The use of social media is also regulated to remain aligned with ethical standards and respect for privacy.
The implementation of this code of conduct is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Concerning SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), the prohibition of smoking, drug abuse, and the obligation to maintain environmental cleanliness support the creation of a healthy and safe campus. To SDG 4 (Quality Education), rules regarding discipline in learning, honesty in examinations, and maintaining a conducive classroom atmosphere contribute to improving the quality of education. Meanwhile, through ethical communication, respect for differences, and fair enforcement of sanctions, this regulation also strengthens the values of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) within the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.
With the enactment of this regulation, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM expects all students, lecturers, education staff, and other stakeholders involved in campus activities to understand and comply with the code of conduct. It is hoped that this will foster a learning and working environment that is harmonious, conducive, and reflective of the identity of UGM’s academic community as excellent, cultured, and integrity-driven.
