Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Conducts Industrial Visit to PT Dermavous Essensial Utama

Yogyakarta, September 30, 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized an industrial visit to PT Dermavous Essensial Utama. The activity was attended by students as part of a series of learning programs that integrate theoretical knowledge from lectures with practical experience in the field. The course is the Pharmacy Elective Course Package (PPK) Cosmetics and Food, which is a package of elective courses offered to undergraduate students currently studying in semester 7, with a value of 7 credits.

The industrial visit aimed to provide students with real-world exposure to production processes, innovation, and quality standards in the cosmetics and food industries. Through this activity, students are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics within the industrial sector, including aspects of regulation, safety, and the application of modern technologies in producing products that meet both national and international standards.

As a company engaged in the development of cosmetic products, PT Dermavous Essensial Utama is considered an appropriate learning partner. The company is recognized for its consistent implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), science-based research, and innovation in utilizing natural active ingredients relevant to evolving societal needs. Students were given the opportunity to directly observe the production stages, starting from raw material selection and formulation to product quality testing.

Beyond expanding knowledge, this activity also encourages students to enhance their global competitiveness, both as prospective licensed pharmacists and entrepreneurs in the cosmetics and food sectors. In this regard, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM remains committed to producing graduates who excel not only academically but also in practical skills and industry networking.

This program further strengthens synergy between higher education institutions and the industrial sector. Such collaboration is expected to open opportunities for applied research, internships, and joint product development based on scientific research. This initiative is aligned with the vision of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to foster an innovative learning ecosystem that responds to the needs of both society and industry.

In line with the sustainable development agenda, this industrial visit is also relevant to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
