Pharmacy UGM – Monday (20/01), the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM welcomed a visit from the international team of the University of Otago to initiate collaboration between the two institutions. The event was successfully held in the Leaderboard Courtroom (RSP), 7th floor, APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. This visit marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between the two institutions and opening up future collaboration opportunities.
The University of Otago delegation, Sarah Ewing and Agatha Kanakamuni, were received by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. rer. nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si., along with the program coordinators at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. During the meeting, both parties discussed various potential areas of collaboration, including research, student mobility, guest lectures, visiting professors, and curriculum development that could enhance the quality of education in pharmacy.
The University of Otago has also officially established a collaboration through an MoU with Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2024. Following this, the collaborative activity of a Visiting Professor from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Otago, to the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM in November 2024 successfully produced positive outcomes and impressions, encouraging both parties to pursue closer cooperation across a broader range of areas between the faculties. Based on this, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM and the University of Otago are exploring opportunities to further discuss potential collaboration in promising sectors, particularly in Pharmacy and Health Science, intending to create a mutual memorandum of understanding between the two institutions. This process began with a visit from the international team of the University of Otago to the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM in January 2025.
Additionally, this event is also a concrete effort by the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international collaboration between the two institutions that can strengthen research and education in the health and pharmacy sectors.
