Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada Hosts Workshop on Review Article Writing and Bibliometric Methods

Yogyakarta, 17 November 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening research quality and impact by hosting a Workshop on Review Article Writing and Bibliometric Analysis in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Held today, Monday (17/11), the workshop was designed specifically to equip postgraduate students with the skills needed to produce high-quality, reputable scientific work.

The session featured respected scholar Prof. Dr. apt. Agung Endro Nugroho, M.Si., as the keynote speaker, and was moderated by Dr. apt. Fita Rahmawati, SP.FRS. Together, they explored systematic strategies for writing review articles and demonstrated how bibliometric analysis can be used to map research trends in pharmaceutical sciences.

Beyond improving academic competence, the workshop also contributes directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By strengthening the capacity of young researchers, the initiative supports SDG 4 (Quality Education). Mastery of review writing and bibliometric techniques helps accelerate innovation in health sciences, aligning with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Moreover, efforts to elevate the quality of pharmaceutical research reinforce SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), helping build a stronger national research ecosystem and advancing future self-reliance in the pharmaceutical industry.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy expressed strong support for the initiative. “In an era of information overload, the ability to synthesize data through review articles and to understand research landscapes through bibliometrics is essential,” he stated. “We aim to equip our postgraduate students with these skills so their work is not only academically excellent but also relevant, impactful, and capable of addressing real-world challenges.”

The workshop was held in a hybrid format, taking place in the Workshop Room, 3rd Floor, Unit IX of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and streamed via Zoom. Attendance was mandatory for postgraduate students of the 2025 cohort and open to those from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts as part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to foster a dynamic and productive academic environment.
