Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada Holds Soft Skills Training for Prospective Pharmacists

Yogyakarta, September 20, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a soft skills training for students of the Pharmacist Professional Study Program (PSPA) class of August 2025. This event was held to equip prospective pharmacists with interpersonal skills, such as communication skills, teamwork, and readiness to enter the workforce.

The training consisted of two main sessions, namely an online seminar and offline job interview simulations and Leaderless Group Discussions (LGD) on campus. The first session featured apt. Yogaswara Tawang Gumbara, S.Farm., a UGM Pharmacy alumnus who currently serves as Scientific Regulatory Affairs – Jr. Field Trainer Manager at L’Oréal Indonesia. He shared his insights and practical experiences from the industry perspective.

The second session, which focused on interactive training, was led directly by the Engineering Career Center (ECC) team. Rinanti Nur Hapsari, S.Psi., a psychologist from ECC, led the LGD and job interview simulation sessions, providing direct feedback to students to boost their confidence and skills.

This training aligns with several key points of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It directly supports SDG 4, Quality Education, by providing a relevant and holistic curriculum that goes beyond academic learning to produce job-ready graduates. Additionally, this activity contributes to SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, by enhancing graduates’ competitiveness in the job market, helping them secure decent employment, and promoting sustainable economic growth. Collaboration with ECC UGM and industry practitioners also reflects a commitment to SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, by building synergy between educational institutions and the professional world to achieve shared objectives in developing superior human resources.
