Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada Holds Laboratory Information System (SILAB) Implementation Workshop to Enhance Service Quality

Yogyakarta, July 28, 2025 – To boost the efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory operations management, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) today hosted a “Laboratory Information System (SILAB) Usage Workshop.” The event took place on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 08:00-12:00 WIB in the Auditorium on the 8th floor of the APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. Attendees included the Dean, Vice Deans, lecturers, technicians, and laboratory staff from the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. This workshop aimed to provide in-depth understanding, enhance operational skills, and encourage the comprehensive implementation of SILAB in all laboratory activities.

The use of SILAB, designed for the digitalization of practicum data recording, equipment borrowing, and reporting, is a progressive step by the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This system’s implementation directly contributes to SDG 9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by creating robust digital infrastructure and promoting innovation in laboratory management. The increased efficiency and data accuracy through SILAB also support SDG 4 Quality Education by providing a better learning and research environment for students and researchers. Furthermore, the optimization of laboratory resource management via SILAB reflects a commitment to SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production, by encouraging more efficient and sustainable asset utilization.

The workshop employed a comprehensive methodology, including presentations by the UGM LPPT SILAB Admin, interactive discussion and Q&A sessions, and hands-on training. This ensured all participants mastered SILAB’s features, from practicum data and student management, equipment and material borrowing, schedule and inventory management, equipment logbooks, to booking management, stock management, and procurement systems through SILAB.

Through this activity, it is hoped that all parties involved in laboratory operations can utilize SILAB to its full potential, thereby significantly supporting the enhancement of laboratory service quality at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and strengthening UGM’s position as a center of excellence in pharmaceutical education and research.
