Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada Holds Advanced Workshop on PKPA Information System Development

Yogyakarta, June 25, 2025 – Continuing its dedication to advancing pharmaceutical education and supporting sustainable development, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Faculty of Pharmacy recently held an advanced workshop on the development of its Pharmacy Professional Practice (PKPA) Information System. This latest workshop focused on the technical aspects of system development, building on earlier initiatives to design a comprehensive information system that supports all phases of PKPA implementation.

This week’s workshop delved into crucial stages of system development, including coding, integration, feature implementation, and server setup. The goal is to create a system that is not only administratively efficient but also fully functional and integrated.

This PKPA information system development directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, Quality Education. By optimizing the PKPA process through digitalization—from student placement and communication among stakeholders to assessment and reporting—the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy aims to significantly enhance students’ learning experiences. The system is designed to ensure that the pharmacy professional education process runs more effectively, is well-documented, and produces highly competent graduates who meet industry standards. The resulting administrative efficiency also allows the study program to focus more resources on improving the substantive quality of the PKPA curriculum.

Furthermore, by producing increasingly competent pharmacists through a high-quality PKPA process, this initiative also positively impacts SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being. An information system that facilitates comprehensive assessment and accurate documentation will ensure that aspiring pharmacists truly master good and proper pharmaceutical practices. Their readiness to provide responsible pharmaceutical services in various healthcare facilities, such as pharmacies, hospitals, and community health centers, will directly improve the quality of healthcare and patient safety in society. This is a tangible step toward supporting overall national health improvement efforts.

Moreover, this initiative is also relevant to achieving SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth. A more efficient and structured PKPA management system helps the Pharmacy Professional Study Program (PSPA) at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy produce prospective pharmacists who are not only technically skilled but also possess a deep understanding of professional workflows. Easy access to documentation and a record of PKPA activities will also serve as a valuable portfolio for students as they enter the workforce, giving them a competitive edge. Additionally, the development of this system supports the creation of more accountable and transparent processes in PKPA management, which is a fundamental aspect of good governance. Ultimately, good governance will support the growth of the pharmaceutical sector as an important part of the national economy.

Through this series of workshops and the ongoing development of the PKPA information system, the PSPA at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy reaffirms its commitment to producing outstanding pharmacists ready to contribute significantly to the advancement of national health and the achievement of SDGs in Indonesia.
