Yogyakarta, 18, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the professionalism of institutional communication by organizing a “Public Relations Capacity Building Training.” The activity, which took place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in the Leadership Meeting Room of the APSLC Building, UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, was intended for lecturers and academic staff within the faculty.
This training is part of the university’s strategic effort to strengthen the faculty’s brand image and reputation at the national and international levels. By presenting an expert speaker, Winda Mizwar Pratiwi, S.E., M.I.Kom., a Communication Strategy Consultant, participants were equipped with various technical materials, case studies, and public relations practice simulations relevant to current challenges.
This activity aims to optimize the faculty’s communication strategy to all stakeholders, from students, parents, industry, government, to the general public. Additionally, this training serves as a forum for sharing experiences and best practices in managing public relations in a higher education environment. This capacity-building initiative not only has an impact on the institution internally but also contributes directly to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being; by improving public relations skills, the Faculty of Pharmacy can be more effective in disseminating accurate and educational information about medicines, safe pharmaceutical practices, and health innovations. This directly supports efforts to increase public health literacy and encourages healthy lifestyles. Then, this activity also helps support SDG 4, Quality Education; this training is a form of continuous professional development for lecturers and educational staff, who are the main pillars of quality education. Furthermore, a better communication strategy allows the faculty to disseminate scientific knowledge and learning outcomes more broadly, strengthening its role as a leading educational institution.
This also supports SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals; effective communication is the foundation of strong partnerships. With a reliable public relations capacity, the Faculty of Pharmacy can build and maintain more solid relationships with industry partners, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and other academic institutions. These partnerships are crucial for encouraging joint innovation and accelerating the achievement of other development goals. Through this program, the Faculty of Pharmacy at UGM shows that strengthening internal capacity is a strategic step that has a broad impact, not only for the institution’s reputation but also for the progress of society as a whole.
