Yogyakarta, August 1, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) UGM, officially concluded the 2025 International Summer Course themed “GREEN-HOPE” (Green Pharmacy for Climate Resilience and Community Empowerment). The closing and awarding night were celebrated festively through a Cultural Night in Tawangmangu, featuring cross-national collaborative performances rich in cultural elements.
This year’s summer course was held in a hybrid format, running for three weeks from July 14 to August 1, 2025. The first two weeks were conducted online, followed by a one-week offline program where participants from various countries gathered in Yogyakarta. Participants came from over 15 countries, including Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Australia.
During the offline sessions, participants engaged in a series of hands-on training, community empowerment activities, clinical and industrial visits, and cultural exchanges that bridged science, innovation, and local values. Visits were made to various locations, including partner villages, pharmaceutical industries, healthcare facilities, museums, and cultural centers.
The Cultural Night was a meaningful and warm closing event. Participants showcased collaborative artistic performances wearing traditional attire from their respective countries, presenting music, dance, and cultural shows that reflected diversity and inclusivity. The event also featured an awarding session for outstanding participants and heartfelt farewell messages.
The Vice Dean for Human Resources, Finance, and Assets of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. apt. Endang Lukitaningsih, M.Si., delivered the closing remarks on behalf of the Dean. In her statement, she said, “This Summer Course has been a platform not only for interdisciplinary and international exchange of ideas, but also for bridging intercultural understanding. We hope the spirit of GREEN-HOPE will continue to inspire participants to contribute to global health challenges through sustainable approaches.”
The program coordinator, apt. Setyowati Triastuti Utami, M.Sc., Ph.D., also expressed her gratitude to all speakers, partners, committees, and participants for their active participation and outstanding enthusiasm throughout the program.
Through GREEN-HOPE, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (health), SDG 13 (climate action), and SDG 15 (life on land), by promoting sustainable, nature-based pharmacy development. The program also supports SDG 4 (quality education) and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals) through international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
