Dr. Ritmaleni, a lecturer at Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM became UGM representative in ASEAN Science Leadership Program (ASLP) 2017. In the event which was held at Higher Educational Leadership Academy, Bandar Enstek Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia from September 7 until 11, 2017, Ritmaleni obtained an opportunity to present her scientific writing regarding science communication for school children.

Thursday, September 14, 2017, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM received the visit of Dean of College of Medicine China Medical University (CMU) Liang-Yo Yang, DVM, PhD. The meeting was attended by Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Agung Endro Nugroho, M.Si., Apt. and some lecturers such as Prof. Dr. Zullies Ikawati, M.Sc., Apt.; Dr.rer.nat. Adam Hermawan, M.Sc., Apt.; Dr.rer.nat. Ronny Martien, M.Si.; and Miftahus Sa’adah, M.Sc., Apt. The visit of Dean of CMU to Faculty of Pharmacy UGM was to strengthen the collaboration with UGM which she admitted to be one of the greatest universities in Indonesia. CMU of which campus based in Taiwan also has had collaborations with other universities i.e. University of San Diego and Mahidol University; it just signed an agreement with University of Cincinnati USA as well. read more

Yusuf Patria, a student of Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada, wins the 2^nd place in infographic design competition which is held by NURANI (acronym of Nuansa Persaudaraan Islam), an Islamic study and preaching organisation of Faculty of Public Health Universitas Indonesia (FKM UI). Yusuf from Class of 2015 comes out as the second winner after bringing up an issue of child stunting which he studied from Islamic perspectives as his work. The general topic he proposed is “Addressing Issues of Stunting from Health and Islamic Perspectives.” read more

Faculty of Pharmacy UGM student contingents which made up the 31 teams of UGM earn achievements in the 30^th national student science competition (PIMNAS 2017) held by Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education in Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makasar, Sulawesi Selatan. Faculty of Pharmacy UGM directed two teams to attend the competition of student creativity programme for exacta science (PKM-PE). The team consisting of Aida Fathia, Ziana Walidah, Swandika Ayumarta, Lisyaratih Anggraini, and Rahajeng Fitria Wahyuniputri presented their research entitled “A New Insight for A Chemoprevention Agent : Developing Temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata) as  Anticancer for Targeted Metabolism of Glutathione S-transferase” under supervision of Muthi’ Ikawati, M.Sc., Apt. read more

It’s not the first time for Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to initiate collaboration with external parties. This time, with Department of Quality Control PT Biofarma, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM held “Identifying Protein by Western Blot Technique Workshop” for three days, from 22^nd to 25^thof August 2017.This activity was attended by Biofarma employees and aimed to give an education about benefitting Western Blot technique to identify protein. Taking place at APS Laboratory, Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, and Food Analysis Laboratory in building unit V Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, the participants were invited to practice using Western Blot instruments after given prior explanation about the usage. read more

2017 is the first year in which ISPE Indonesia Affiliate holds Student Poster Competition. And who knows that this currently held event is a beginning step of the success of Indonesia at international level. Student Poster Competition Indonesia took place on May 9-10, 2017 in Jakarta which is linked with the Annual Conference titled Continual Improvement. In this competition, the participants are obliged to make a scientific poster with topics of Research and Development, Facilities, or Business Operations of Interest to Pharmaceutical Industry. read more

To deal with the less optimal access of e-journal subscribed by the Library of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM collaborates with the Library of Universitas Gadjah Mada held socialisation of E-content and Management of Reference Tools. Invited as the speakers were Ms Safiratu Khoiri, PhD and Mr Bagus Wijaya, SIP. The goal is to maximise the student access to UGM Library generally and to its collections mainly in electronic form (database, e-journal, and e-book).

In addition to the socialisation, the students were given information on managing references which ease them in writing papers, theses, and dissertations. The socialisation was expected to help students accessing electronic literature in UGM Library to be cited in the research papers. read more

Dra. Wahyu Maryani, Apt. (industrial practitioner of PT Triyasa Nagamas Farma as well as alumni of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM) gave a guest lecture to students of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Room 1. The guest lecture was one of the Systematic Guest Lectures held regularly by inviting speakers from Faculty of Pharmacy UGM alumni. “Drugs circulating in Indonesia must have NIE (distribution license number), and therefore, it is very important for pharmacists to know the drug registration procedures to get NIE from BPOM (National Agency of Drug and Food Control),” she said. Through the regulation of BPOM number HK.03.1.23.10.11.08481 dated 2011; its first amendment number 3 dated 2013; and its second amendment number 17 dated 2016, BPOM issued the Drug Registration Procedure and Criteria. Sharing practical experiences in registering drugs and interpreting regulations of BPOM are thought to be crucial as a debriefing for students in Pharmacist Education Programme and Master Programme to prepare the graduates to be ready to work, especially those dealing with drug regulatory. read more

Faculty of Pharmacy UGM held a systematic guest lecture which involved alumni and pharmacy practitioners to debrief and enrich students’ knowledge. This activity was arranged regularly and designed for students at Pharmacist Education Programme. On the first day, the guest lecture committee invited Dra. Ellen Wijaya, MS, MM, Apt (industry practitioner, alumni of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, the committee of Indonesian Pharmacist Association, the committee of Pharmacy KAGAMA  2016-2021) and Dra Wahyu Maryani, Apt (industry practitioner, alumni of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM). In the first occasion, Dra Ellen Wijaya gave undergraduate and post-graduate students with the following topics: 1) regulatory affairs and its job descriptions, 2) soft skills required to work in regulatory affairs, 3) Pharmacovigilance and its correlation to product information as well as how to deliver/ implement the information of pharmacovigilance data to the patients. read more

On August 28, 2017, delegations of PT Air Mancur paid a visit to Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. PT Air Mancur is a jamu or traditional medicine factory established since 1963 and is located in Palur, Dagen, Karanganyar, Central Java. Among the delegations Drs Bambang Priyambodo, Apt; Mr Hafid Kustanto, Ms Yunita RK, and Ms Endah TS were welcomed by Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. During the visit, both parties committed to improve the development of Indonesian traditional medicine as Indonesian biodiversity is the second biggest in the world after Brazil, including the medicinal plants biodiversity. “We should be the host in our own country concerning the traditional medicine.” read more
