Yogyakarta, August 13, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) recently welcomed a benchmarking visit from the leadership and development team of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada (UBTH), Tasikmalaya. The visit aimed to learn about the governance, curriculum, and supporting facilities of UGM’s postgraduate programs as UBTH prepares to establish its own Master’s Pharmacy program.
The UBTH delegation was warmly received by the Dean of UGM’s Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., in Meeting Room Unit V. In his opening remarks, Prof. Satibi expressed his appreciation for UBTH’s initiative and highlighted the importance of collaboration among pharmacy education institutions to jointly enhance the quality of human resources in Indonesia’s health sector.
The program continued with presentations on academic management, research, and student affairs at the postgraduate level by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si. The discussion deepened as the Chairs of UGM’s Master’s programs shared insights into their respective programs’ strengths and facilities. Presenters from UGM included Dr. apt. Adhyatmika, M.Biotech. (Chair of Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences), Dr. Dwi Endarti, S.F., M.Sc., Apt. (Chair of Master of Pharmacy Management), and Dra. Fita Rahmawati, Sp.FRS., Apt., Ph.D. (Chair of Master of Clinical Pharmacy).
The UBTH delegation included Diana Sri Zustika, M.Si. (Vice Rector II), dr. H. Asep Sufyan, S.Ked. (Head of Institutional Development Team), Dr. apt. Tresna Lestari, M.Si. (Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy), and apt. Nur Rahayuningsih, M.Si. (Chair of the Master’s Pharmacy Proposal Team). Dr. apt. Tresna Lestari stated, “We chose UGM as our benchmarking destination due to its outstanding track record in producing quality master’s graduates in pharmacy. We hope to adopt experiences from UGM to apply in the master’s program we plan to develop.”
This inter-institutional collaboration aligns with both universities’ commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Improving the quality of pharmacy higher education (SDG 4, Quality Education) will directly produce competent health professionals who contribute to improving public health and well-being (SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being). Furthermore, the benchmarking visit exemplifies a strategic partnership (SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals) essential for advancing the national education and health service ecosystem collectively.
The visit concluded with a Q&A session and a tour of academic facilities, including the mini hospital, classrooms, and laboratories at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The tour was led by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. apt. Nanang Munif Yasin, S.Si., M.Pharm.
