Pharmacy UGM – On Monday, November 4, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed representatives from The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, for an academic visit and collaborative discussion to explore partnership opportunities. Held at the RSP, APSLC building Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, this event was attended by the Dean and leadership team of UGM Pharmacy, while UQ was represented by Ms. Donna Guest, International Development Manager of the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences.
During this initial meeting, both parties discussed potential avenues for collaboration, including international programs at the undergraduate and master’s levels and study abroad options. These discussions aimed to lay the groundwork for enhanced academic and cultural exchange between the two institutions, promoting mutual growth and learning opportunities for students and faculty members alike.
The collaborative initiatives discussed are aimed at providing UGM Pharmacy students with opportunities for an international learning experience, strengthening the global reach of the faculty’s programs. By establishing links with UQ, UGM Pharmacy seeks to create an academically enriching environment that encourages knowledge sharing and research development.
Another focal point of the discussions was the potential for joint research and faculty exchange programs. These initiatives are expected to open doors for UGM and UQ faculty members to conduct collaborative research on pressing health issues, while also providing students with valuable exposure to international research environments and interdisciplinary studies. Such exchanges align with UGM’s mission to foster global academic partnerships that drive impactful and innovative solutions to health challenges.
The academic visit concluded with both institutions expressing optimism about the potential collaborations and a commitment to advance these discussions further. UGM Pharmacy and UQ aim to develop a roadmap that will realize these initiatives and bring tangible benefits to their respective students, faculty, and the broader community (SDG 17).
This event aligns with several of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education) through improved access to international education, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through collaborative health-focused research, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering a cross-border educational partnership.
