The Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Biology of Universitas Gadjah Mada Have Collaborated to Host a Joint Guest Lecture with Prof. Erik Danen from Leiden University

Yogyakarta, June 4, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy of Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology of Universitas Gadjah Mada, hosted a Guest Lecture & Interview Session for the Joint Doctoral Degree program with Leiden University. The event took place in the Auditorium on the 8th Floor of the APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, from 09:00-13:00 WIB, and was attended by final-year students from the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Universitas Gadjah Mada, alumni of the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Universitas Gadjah Mada, and for the public.

On this occasion, the guest lecture was delivered by Prof. dr. Erik H.J. Danen, a Professor in the field of Cancer Drug Target Discovery within the Division of Drug Discovery & Safety, who also serves as Dean of the Graduate School of Science at Leiden University. He opened the guest lecture with an introduction to the campus, followed by an explanation of the application process for Leiden University for participants in the Joint Doctoral Program Networking Session. Following this, the sharing session concluded with an interactive Q&A session with the participants.

Through the organisation of this collaborative event, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada is making a tangible contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being through the recruitment of Joint Doctoral Programme participants, who are expected to produce research that will advance science and technology; then the achievement of SDG 4 on Quality Education through a sharing session on the application process for the Joint Doctoral Programme at Leiden University, and the achievement of SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals through cross-disciplinary (Pharmacy-Biology) and cross-national (UGM in Indonesia with Leiden University in the Netherlands) collaboration to achieve shared academic and research objectives.
