UGM Strengthens Academic Quality Through LAM-PTKes Re-Accreditation Visit for Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Yogyakarta, October 24, 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held an accreditation visit for the Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences by the Independent Accreditation Board for Health Higher Education (LAM-PTKes). The visit took place over four days, from Wednesday to Friday, October 22–24, 2025, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM.

The on-site assessment was conducted by two LAM-PTKes assessors, Prof. Dr. apt. Yahdiana Harahap, M.S. and Prof. Dr. Dra. apt. Henny Lucida, who carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the program’s academic quality, governance, resources, and achievements across the three pillars of higher education (education, research, and community service).

The visit began with an opening meeting involving university and faculty leaders to present the visit agenda and align perspectives between the assessors and program management. The assessors then conducted a series of interviews and data verifications with various stakeholders, including unit leaders, faculty members, students, academic staff, alumni, and employers of graduates.

In addition, the assessors inspected academic and research facilities directly, including lecture rooms, laboratories, the library, and other supporting infrastructure, to verify the consistency between the accreditation documents and actual conditions on site. The process also involved active participation from members of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s academic community who supported and provided clarifications throughout the assessment.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., emphasized that the visit was an important moment for continuous quality improvement and academic accountability. “Accreditation is not merely an administrative evaluation, but also a process of self-reflection and system strengthening to ensure that our academic programs remain adaptive to scientific advancement and societal needs,” he stated.

The UGM Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences has long been recognized for its strong reputation in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, clinical pharmacy, and natural product drug development, with active collaborations involving universities and research institutions at both national and international levels. Through this accreditation process, the faculty aims to further strengthen academic governance, expand research collaboration networks, and enhance scientific contributions globally.

This visit also reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through continuous improvement in higher education quality, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through sustainable research and innovation, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through inter-institutional cooperation to strengthen academic and professional competitiveness in the pharmaceutical sciences.
