Yogyakarta, August 5, 2025 – Demonstrating its commitment to strengthening international academic networks, the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Faculty of Pharmacy has once again participated on the global stage. Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. (Dean of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy) along with Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si. (Vice Dean for Research, Community Services, Cooperation, and Alumni), attended the 12th Asian Association of Schools of Pharmacy (AASP) Conference in Saitama, Japan, from August 2-4, 2025. The conference was organized by Nihon Pharmaceutical University and the Japan Pharmaceutical Society.
This participation served as a crucial platform to follow the latest developments in pharmacy and to network with experts from across Asia. In addition to the conference, the UGM delegation had the opportunity to make courtesy visits to several leading Japanese universities, including Nihon Pharmaceutical University, Kyoto Pharmaceutical University, and Josai University. These visits were aimed at exploring potential future collaborations, such as staff and student exchanges and joint research partnerships.
“Our presence at this conference and during these cooperation visits is a strategic step to expand our international network. We hope that our interactions with academics and researchers in Japan will open doors for collaborations that benefit the quality of education and research at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy,” said Professor Satibi.
This activity directly contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Active participation in scientific forums and research collaborations supports SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being by facilitating the exchange of knowledge that can drive innovation in healthcare and medicine. The exploration of exchange programs and academic collaboration aligns with SDG 4, Quality Education, which aims to improve educational quality and ensure wider access to knowledge. This mission also advances SDG 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by encouraging innovation through research partnerships. Lastly, by strengthening partnerships between international educational and research institutions, this activity explicitly supports SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, which is key to collectively addressing global challenges.
