Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) discussed with SK Plasma, focusing on open recruitment opportunities for pharmacy students in the franchise industry sector of SK Plasma. This discussion aimed to provide students and alumni of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM with opportunities to build careers in the rapidly growing pharmaceutical franchise industry in Indonesia.
This discussion was organized as part of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s efforts to bridge the gap between education and industry, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector. SK Plasma is a leader in high-tech industrial components in Korea, second only to Samsung. SK Plasma’s factory is located in Andong, Korea, and it has expanded to 20 countries worldwide, including Indonesia. SK Plasma is supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, focusing on cooperation in Indonesia, which includes manufacturing equipment, training staff in Andong, Korea, and constructing factories in Indonesia.
The discussion took place virtually via Zoom and was attended by the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s leaderboard, represented by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni, as well as the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources. In addition, faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM and related academic staff were also present. Mr. Ted Roh, the President of SK Plasma Core Indonesia, participated in the discussion regarding the recruitment system and other potential collaboration opportunities.
During the discussion, SK Plasma offered various job openings for Pharmacy UGM alumni in positions such as Production Team, QA Specialist, QA Team (QMS & GMT), and QA Team (Qualification). Selected candidates will undergo a 6-month training program in Korea before working at the company’s facility in Karawang. This aligns directly with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in creating decent work and supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth (SDG 8).
Moreover, this initiative serves as a proof of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s contribution to achieving other SDG goals. Through the collaboration between the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM and SK Plasma, students and alumni are allowed to pursue careers in the growing pharmaceutical industry, while strengthening the relationship between education and industry, supporting skill development (SDG 4), and enhancing healthcare quality (SDG 3) through relevant innovation and training (SDG 9). Additionally, the collaboration with SK Plasma plays a role in strengthening global partnerships (SDG 17) by facilitating knowledge transfer and expanding the positive impact on the development of a sustainable pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia.
