Yogyakarta – On Monday, July 10, 2017, Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada (FP UGM) received a visit from the representatives of Alpha Pacific Russia and KBRI Moscow. They arrived at FP UGM at 11.00 a.m. and were warmly welcomed by the Dean of FP UGM Professor Agung Endro Nugroho and the Vice Dean for Research, Collaboration, and Alumni Dr Endang Lukitaningsih. Among the representatives are Senior Partners of Alpha Pacific Group Mr Oleg Gorbulin and Madam Irina Gorbulin along with other representatives of KBRI Moscow Mr Darmawan Suparno, Mr Kiki Kusprabowo, and Mr Dasep Mulyadi.
The Dean then led a preliminary discussion in which he also gave an overview of FP UGM’s profile. Joining the discussion is the Secretary of Pharmaceutical Biology Department FP UGM Dr Nanang Fakhrudin and the Secretary of Unit of International Affairs FP UGM Dr Adam Hermawan.
The coordinator in KBRI Moscow Mr Darmawan speaking on behalf of the guest gladly mentioned that their purpose of the visit was none other than to deliver the interest of Alpha Pacific Russia to initiate collaboration with FP UGM particularly in the field of research. Mr Darmawan also stated, “as far as I know, UGM is the most active university in terms of expanding international collaboration.”
The industry is interested in developing a product of traditional medicine that has been known previously as one of the strengths of FP UGM. The Dean delightedly welcomed this intention with some intuitive notions on the procedure and the possible areas of collaboration. “This is very interesting,” said Madam Irina Gorbulin after Dr Endang Lukitaningsih gives an example of some research ideas from previous collaboration in FP UGM.
“However, it normally requires some time for us to find the candidate of substance to be developed as a product, and more often that our research is still in the basic stage,” highlighted Dr Endang Lukitaningsih. “Our discussion is very fruitful, but we should probably have further communication between scientists in Alpha Pacific Group and our researchers before outlining the agreement,” added the Dean.
The discussion was then closed by a photo session in front of Dean’s office and token exchange between Professor Agung Endro Nugroho of FP UGM and Madam Irina Gorbulin on behalf of the Alpha Pacific Group. (Saras)
